Chase Lake Falls is known by several names, such as Prather Creek Falls or sometimes referred to the name of a nearby town called Cottonwood Falls. This is another waterfall that is dependent upon a high water pool in Chase Fishing Lake. On this particular day after several reoccurring storms that caused flooding in the area the water was really flowing though a bit brown from all the sediment.

The lower falls requires you to wade in water and work through some broken tree limbs, but it could allow ou to capture four falls.

Part of the spillway at Geary State Fishing Lake is this wonderful waterfall that flows when the lake pool is high.

The beautiful waterfall located Northeast of Rifle Colorado in a small, but enjoyable state park is a very short walk from the park’s entrance and general parking lot.

The April 2006 National Geographic published the article “Glen Canyon Revealed” with a picture of Reflection Canyon by Michael Melford. Since that moment, hikers have made a hard and difficult 16-18 mile round trip hike to see this unique and spectacular serpentine channel that marks this canyon. Individuals considering this trek beware, this isn’t a hike for inexperienced hikers. There isn’t any reliable water sources, a steep grade to climb to the top of the hill, nor landmarks any recognizable reference points to the hilltop where he took his photo.

A drive with courtesy billboard marks this Kansas City cityscape. Yet this part of the interstate has been closed for a couple of years. So a sign for no cars.

I was enthralled by the submerged patio lights at the Washington Memorial that seemed to point to the Capital.

Blue hour adds the same blue case onto the muddy Missouri and Kansas Rivers sandwiching downtown Kansas City in a rich blue.

A beautiful setting sun added the golden glow to the downtown buildings of Kansas City as seen from the patio above the Amtrak station.

Perching high atop a closed interstate on ramp from the Fairfax industrial offered a rare opportunity to capture the Kansas City cityscape with the Broadway Bridge lights.

After waiting years for a supermoon to rise between key Kansas City skyscrapers, PhotoPills showed that a Sturgeon Supermoon would occur and this is the shoot that I took.

What an incredible moment to finally be able to get a full moon over 1 Kansas City Plaza Skyscraper low enough for it to look good. The plus was it was a Supermoon.

The Angel of Death spire, which is often overlooked by travelers that walk further North to the Long Don Sliver (Lone Spire) for their popularity seeking Instagram image. This spire has always been a desired shot. On my third visit to this site while I was in the area shooting other pictures, I found nice clouds passing overhead as the sun rising in the East.

While hiking the Rim Overlook and Navajo Knobs trail this view materialized. Capital Doom is to the right and Mount Pennell is in the background.

Along the trail up to the Rim Overlook was this spur nestled about with Utah Juniper that point upward to a butte in the distance. I took this photo because I noticed that the junipers provided a gap between the suggesting a path that lead upwards to the overlook peak that I was hiking to. I also like the dark stones in the front right corner that act to balance the picture with the clouds peaking on the left.

While hiking the Rim Overlook trail I noticed that at a certain elevation close to the overlook area you could see Mt Pennell in the far ground unobstructed by the Capital Reef terrain. This is perhaps the photo I like the best from my trip to Southern Utah. I like how you are lead in the photo to mountain in the far ground. What I don’t like is that balance is a bit weighted to the left. This shot was taken from a hand held position while hiking.

A pinnacle stands as a sentinel to hikers that the Wahweap Hoodoos are just ahead. Hoodoos are noticeable in the distance along the cliff.

Desert dust refract sunrise light painting the sky in orange and yellow tones as sunlight creeps into the Goosenecks Canyons. This HDR panoramic photo was created by blending 15 pans of three each photos for a total of 45 photos to expand the focal length needed to capture the canyon’s serpentine splendor.
