Edmaier’s Secret Turret

I had packet up my camera gear and was heading out of Edmaier’s Secret after finding fresh mountain lion tracks in the smoothed wet sand, when I came across this formation.  Since my whole purpose of this visit was to recon the area for a future shooting visit, tune up my shooting skills for the upcoming locations, and test my daypack configuration; I decided to take the photo with my iPhone to avoid delaying leaving the area.  After returning my research showed that this is best short with morning light verses the afternoon lighting that, but the problem is that the Eastern ridge is high enough that you won’t start seeing sunlight until after 8:34 AM, which is a hour after the end of golden hour.

As for the colors in this image, the extracted color theme shows complementary colors except for a highly saturated dark brown tone that was pulled from the shadows.  The complementary tones showed good saturation throughout the image.

PhotoPills wasn’t used, but done afterwards to maintain the planning should I elect to return, which is what I am planning.
